Can movies like "Gamer" and "Death Race" be the future of reality T.V.

Imagine a future where death row inmates battle to the death in an all out race. And the the person who is victorious after several matches is set free. Imagine a future in where the videogame character you control is an actual person, and if you character dies, an actual person dies. Now imagine these horrendous situations being played out on television. Well those are the futures that were depicted in the film "Gamer" and "Death Race". In both movies death row inmates are used to play in life and death battles for the amusement of viewers. These are extreme takes on what reality television can become. But what does it truly take for this to be accepted in society today? The moral deterioration of our citizens, the abolition of our constitution, or the lost of rights for all inmates. Nevertheless, it will take a lot for reality television and our society to become so brutal.

Reality TV! Good or Bad?

Reality television is undoubtedly the new wave of television programing. It has grown from something seen as a fad, to a substantial industry, which formula brings in tons of revenue for stations. Some people argue however that reality TV has ruined television and shows the worst part of American society, and gives outside countries an inaccurate outlook on Americans. Furthermore, others state that reality TV, has shattered creativity amongst directors and writers.Instead of creating heart gripping plots, or comically ingenious shows, they are taking the easy way out by throwing a bunch of people in a house and wishing for the best.

I believe that reality TV is an ingenious idea and has many benefits over normal scripted programs. First of all, Americans are addicted to reality television because they usually can relate to at least one person in the cast. In addition, due to the fact that the cast are "normal" individuals and not actors, you feel binded to that person you van relate with on a much deeper lever than an actor's character.
Secondly, the unpredictability factor of reality television is amazing, and puts on the supreme level of things such as sports television programs; in the sense of the overall outcome of the program not being know by anyone, not even the cast and directors. Thus, its population of fans even rivals sports television.

My third point is that, reality television save media programmers money. You save money on a writer, hiring a high end roster of actors, and director. Its revenue is immense and assists with the development of stations.

It creates big bucks, and has become a global phenomenon. Their are station which are dedicated to showing reality programming, and reality TV even has its on form of gambling, as fans watch betting to decide the winner of their favorite reality show. Unquestionably reality TV has become larger than life, and should be embraced instead of ostracized. I feel that with the good comes the bad, as is the case with all things. Top 5 New Reality Shows of 2009-10

As television continues to develop, it has continued to lean on reality programing as a source of entertainment. The highest rated shows of 2009 included four reality shows and one sports program.The top two shows were "American Idol Tuesday Show", and "American Idol Wednesday Show". Reality programing is certainly the wave of the future, and not a temporary fad, as we have seen with the continued success of "American Idol" as it is now in its 9th season. "Tool Academy" is a show that premiered on VH1. The show was a competition amongst 9 "unsuspecting bad boys" aka "Tools" who were brought on the show by their girlfriends to reform and be better men. The goal of the show was for one winner who reformed the most the be crowned at the end and and win a prize pot of $100,000.

"Into the Pride" follows large predator professional David Salmoni as he dives into an African reservation and lives amongst lions for six months and try to reform the behavior of a pride of lions. The lions were scaring off tourist and losing the reservation money. Salmoni hopes to change the behavior of the "Big Cats" and save the pride from illimination.

R&B superstar Ray J looked for love in "For the Love of Ray J". He lived in a house with 16 girls for 8 weeks, with hopes of finding his one true love.

The show stirred intense controversy from the Italian community due to the cast portraying the stereotypical Italian "guido" image. But if you were to ask the cast, they were just being themselves.
